INFORMATION RELEASE

From: Angoon City Council
Subject: Local Travel Mandate Change

Angoon, AK, November 20, 2020: Today, a motion was made and passed to rescind Emergency Order 6 and replace it with the current State of Alaska Health Orders.

Current COVID19 State Health Orders can be found at: https://covid19.alaska.gov/health-order/
The biggest change is that instead of self-isolation for the household for two weeks after arrival, travelers coming to Angoon are required to:

A. Practice strict social distancing.

B. Test no sooner than 5 days after arrival in Angoon and continue strict social distancing until a negative result is received.

C. If no test is taken, the traveler and household must practice strict social distancing until 14 days after arrival in Angoon.
The State of Alaska Health Orders define “Strict Social Distancing” as the following:

  1. Strict social distancing is allowed after you have one negative test result from a test taken within 72 hours of departure or on arrival into Alaska.
  2. You may be in an outdoor public place, but you must remain six feet away from anyone not in your immediate household, and you must wear a face covering. You may arrange curbside shopping or have food delivery.
  3. You cannot enter restaurants, bars, gyms, community centers, sporting facilities (i.e., ice rinks, gymnasiums, and sports domes), office buildings, and school or daycare facilities. Do not participate in any group activities, including sporting events and practices, weddings, funerals, or other gatherings.
  4. This 14-day window can be shortened by receiving a negative result from an optional second molecular-based test for SARS-Co V2 taken between five and 14 days after arrival into Alaska.

Please continue to practice good hygiene, including wearing a mask when outside of your household, washing hands regularly, cleaning high-contact surfaces regularly, and limiting contact with any people outside of your household.

Please stay up to date on information releases and postings from the City, ACA, and SEARHC.
